“BLUE” YOUR MIND!!!!!!!!!!!

INTERIOR DESIGN BY: SUSAN LACHANCE INTERIOR DESIGN

Mood and the “blues” really do set the “tune” for the room.  Blue stimulates and represents meaning to: tranquility, serenity, clarity, and, communication. In addition it has shown as well as, proved, to reduce stress and tension.  Perfect combination for your living room, family room, or any other room that you and your guests gather in.

With calming attributes and an inviting “vibe“, this usage of blue makes you want to kick back, relax and enjoy the comfort of your home.

The “key-note” here is to also include “accent” pieces.  The unique coffee table is the “hit” of the room as it isn’t your typical low coffee table but rather a “step up” from the rest.  Don’t forget the foot stool that puts you a “leg up!”

Ocean waves embrace you as you walk into the room.  The carpet gives a subtle reminder of the tranquil ocean, relaxing you even deeper.

Accessories that make the room “sing” are always a must and add “rhythm” and “grace” to your place.  Here you see the white coral on the coffee table, the ‘beach‘ scene artwork on the wall, sand vase candle, and the vase of shells.  Don’t forget to add the “sun” to your paradise! The sun shaped mirror smiles down on you from every angle!

Candle chandelier “illuminates” and fine “tunes” this room.

Last, “verse” don’t forget the whimsical drapes!

With a room like this, one can only say, it’s on the “top hit list” and you will be singing the “BLUES” every day!

Setting…. The Bar!

Setting the ‘Bar’ with: Geometric Shapes and Accessories!

INTERIOR DESIGN BY: SUSAN LACHANCE INTERIOR DESIGN

Taking contemporary design from the 80’s and making it Sooo 2011!!!

Basic design with a little ‘twist’!

It’s all about having geometric shapes or ‘cut outs’ in the bar stools, and using one solid shape as the theme for the entire bar area.  Notice the added touches in the glass blocks under the counter top, the square cabinets, and the wall art design. Keeping in the theme of squares and straight lines.

Now for the added ‘twist’….Color the bar with accessories, or as I call it: “candy for the counter tops”. This is best accomplished with tones of reds, steel, and copper. Making it hard to “pass the bar”!

Simple yet striking!
